Regulations of the International Competition of Children's Creativity

OSKAR IN MAY 2024

 

We invite all creative collectives of different genres and styles (all nominations are listed below) for the jubilee of International festival-competition of children's creativity "OSKAR IN MAY 2024" that will be held from 02.05.2024 to 05.05.2024 in the nice mountain resort “Lubovnianske Kupele”, Slovakia.

During the festival, there will be organized different events, e.g. contests, excursions, gala concert, awarding laureates and winners of the contest, daily swimming in the hotel indoor pool.

I. MAIN AIMS AND TASKS OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The aim of the competition is:

To establish creative contacts, to strengthen international relations and cooperation through creativity and to form creative potential.

 

The main tasks of the festival:

  • to promote children's creativity;
  • to reveal new talents and supporting young creative talents;
  • to create conditions for support and development of international children's creativity;
  • to strengthen  friendship and mutual understanding between the people from different countries of the festival participants;
  • to involve  leading specialists in culture and the most prominent artists;
  • to preserve and develop  national culture

Patronage:

  • the mayor's office of Stara Lubovna
  • the travel company Olansa Travel, s.r.o.

Media support:

  • the national Slovak television channel STV 2 - the editorial board of "cultural programs"
  • the regional radio and television of Lubovna district, Slovakia
  • Municipal Department of Culture of Stara Lubovna, Slovakia

 

II. PAYMENT

 

PAYMENT:  

A price are:

180,00 EUR for 3 nights for 1 person from 3 years old till 14,99 years old.

195,00 EUR for 3 nights for 1 person from 15 years old and older.

 

The prices for the whole tour per 1 person includes:

  • Accommodation for 2 or 3 nights for 2-3 people in room with all conditions;
  • Three meals a day (starting with lunch and ending with breakfast, water intake);
  • Every day entrance to the pool in the hotel (should register in advance);
  • Free use of the rehearsal room and fitness center.
  • Resort fee;
  • For each 26-th person. accommodation, meals - FREE of charge;".

There are no discounts for accommodation or due to age. No other discounts will be taken.

 

Additional charges:

  • Extra charge for accommodation for 2 people in a room + 15 EUR for a room for 1 night (all heads of collectives, accompanists and drivers are released from this payment)
  • Extra charge for 1 person in the room + 20 EUR for 1 room for 1 night
  • Extra charge for the apartment + 50 EUR for the whole apartment for 1 night
  • Extra charge for each following day + 55 EUR / 1 person. / three meals a day / 1 night

The prices  DO NOT INCLUDES:

- Festival fee - MANDATORY FOR ALL PERFORMERS.

- Consular fees, insurance, accommodation for drivers, transportation and personal expenses, optional excursions.

 

III. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

 

Creative collectives and individual performers of all children's and youth's age categories can take part in the competition in the following areas: vocal, choreography, decorative art, fine art, original, instrumental and theatrical genres.

 

Financial conditions:

Travel payment expenditures of festival participants are paid by the sending organization.

 

Financing of the competition is carried out at the expense of org. contributions of participants.

 

Org. contributions for participation in the competition are paid before the beginning of the contest performances but no later than registration on the day of the festival-contest. 

  • 25 EURO / 1 person / festival fee, if such fee is paid by 1 to 10 participants.
  • 23 EURO / 1 person / festival fee, if such a group consists of 1 to 20 people.
  • 20 EURO / 1 person / festival fee, if such a group consists of 21 or more people

 

Festival fee is for each person (member of the team) in all categories and age groups for 2 numbers (performances, artworks, and literary works).

 

For each additional performance it is paid 7 EURO per person (member of the team) and the team is up to 9 people. All other teams from 10 people and more pay 70 EURO for each next performance.

 

The number of acts (performances, artworks, and literary works) are not limited.

 

All services are provided only through the Organizing Committee of the competition and are coordinated with the participants individually.

 

SPECIAL ATTENTION!!!

The organizer of the OSKAR IN MAY festival is the company "OLANSA".

All calculations, including accommodation, festival fees and excursions are exclusively made by the company "OLANSA". An independent stay at the festival is FORBIDDEN. 

 

IV. TERMS AND PLACEMENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FESTIVAL

The festival is held from Thursday 02.05.2024 till Sunday 05.05.2024 / nights / 4 days.

V. COMPETITIVE NOMINATIONS AND AGE CATEGORIES:

GENRE: CHOREOGRAPHY

Nominations:

  • Ballroom dance (Latin dance, stylized, standard).
  • Folk dance.
  • Classical dance.
  • Modern choreography (contemporary, improvisation, afro jazz, classical, jazz-modern, Broadway jazz).
  • Street Dance show (hip-hop, disco, funky styles, r & b, street jazz, soul, techno-club dance, break dance, house, and the variety of modern dance).
  • Variety of dance (show, rock & roll, Charleston, retro, stylization of folklore, synthesis of styles, etc.)

Solo.

Duet.

The ensemble / divided into a trio, a quartet, etc. /

 

      - 1st  category - aged from 4 to 8;

      - 2nd  category - aged from 9 to 11;

      - 3rd category - aged from 12 to 14;

      - 4th category - 15-19;

      - 5th category - 20-24;

      - 6th category - 25 and older;

      - 7th -  mixed age category (formation)

 

Evaluation criteria:

- performing skills - the technique of movability;

- composition of the performance;

- correspondence of the performance due to the age of performers;

- scenic (flexibility, costume, props, culture of performance);

- selection and matching of musical and choreographic material;

- Acting, artistic image

VOCAL GENRE

/ Nominations: academic, variety, folk /

Solo.

Duet.

The ensemble / divided into a trio, a quartet, an octet, an ensemble /

The choirs.

 

      - 1st  category - aged from 4 to 8;

      - 2nd  category - aged from 9 to 11;

      - 3rd category - aged from 12 to 14;

      - 4th category - 15-19;

      - 5th category - 20-24;

      - 6th category - 25 and older;

      - 7th -  mixed age category (formation)

 

  Evaluation criteria:

- purity of intonation and quality of sound;

- the beauty of the timbre and the power of the voice;

- musicality, acting, artistic interpretation of a musical work;

- stage culture;

- complexity of the repertoire;

- performing skills;

- correspondence of the repertoire to the age of the performer.

ORIGINAL GENRE

/ Nominations: plastic sketch, acrobatics, equilibration, antipode, rubber, jugglery, clownery, etc. /

 

Solo.

Ensemble.

- the age groups are not divided.

 

Criteria for evaluation:

- level of circus training;

- technical abilities of performers;

- Acting, performing skills;

- scenic (flexibility, costume, performance culture);

- creativity in the selection of the repertoire;

- difficulty of the performance;

- artistic design of the program, props

 

GENRE: DECORATIVE  ART

/ Nominations: knitting, painting on the glass, izonit, rhinestones, weaving, clay work, embroidery with beads, dolls, batik, collage, etc. /

 

- 1st category - aged from 06 to 9;

- 2nd category - aged from 10 to 12;

- 3rd category - aged from 13 to 16;

- 4th category - aged from 17 to 25;

 

Each participant prepares 2 free-style themes

 

Evaluation criteria:

- level of training;

- technical capabilities;

- creativity in the selection of the repertoire;

- difficulty of work;

 

GENRE: FINE ARTS

/ Nominations: gouache, watercolor, pencil, etc. /

 

- 1st category - aged from 06 to 9;

- 2nd category - aged from 10 to 12;

- 3rd category - aged from 13 to 16;

- 4th category - aged from 17 to 25;

 

Each participant prepares 2 free-style themes

 

Evaluation criteria:

- level of training;

- technical capabilities;

- creativity in the selection of the repertoire;

- difficulty of work;

 

INSTRUMENTAL GENRE

/ Nominations: classical music, folk, symphonic, pop, etc. /

 

Solo.

Duet / Trio / Quartet.

Ensemble.

Orchestra.

 

      - 1st  category - aged from 4 to 8;

      - 2nd  category - aged from 9 to 11;

      - 3rd category - aged from 12 to 14;

      - 4th category - 15-19;

      - 5th category - 20-24;

      - 6th category - 25 and older;

      - 7th -  mixed age category (formation)

 

 Evaluation criteria:

- purity of intonation and quality of sound;

- the beauty of the timbre and the power of the sound

- technical performance;

- musicality artistry, artistic interpretation of a musical work;

- difficulty of the repertoire and arrangement;

- creative individuality.;

 

THEATRICAL GENRE

/ Amateur collectives from all directions of theatrical art can take part in the competition, the exception is drama theater /

 

- Collectives present small stage scenes, solo performances, and sketches, scenes from plays or plays that have a compositionally completed character.

- The age groups are not divided.

 

Evaluation criteria:

- completeness and expressiveness of the disclosure of the theme of the work;

- the disclosure and brightness of artistic images, the performing level;

- scenic (plastic, costume, performance culture);

- artistic design of the play, props;

- diction of actors;

- correspondence of the repertoire to the age of performers.

 

GENRE FASHION & DESIGN

/Nominations: children's models, fashion theaters, children's clothes design/

 

There are 2 forms of participation: 

  1. Collective: mixed age category from 4-16 years

Participants provide 2 collections in various fashion styles - up to 10 minutes all. For each collection it is necessary to provide a photo and prepare a brief comments that reveals the idea.

Evaluation criteria:

  • Originality and novelty of the idea;
  • Costume design;
  • matching costumes to the age of the contestants;
  • integrity of the idea of ??the show (the relationship of all components: direction, music, design of the collection, model skills)
  • quality of performance 
  1. Individual (author's collections, design of clothes and accessories)

- 1st category -  from 06 to 10;

- 2nd category - from 11 to 16;

- 3rd category - students and adult masters;

  Participants provide 1-2 collections in the following directions:

 

PRET-A-PORTE, AVANT GARDE, ART-MODA, FOLK-STYLE

 

Evaluation criteria:

  • originality of design;
  • integrity of the collection;
  • image;
  • style;
  • technique of performance.

VI. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Parents, drivers, attendants and team leaders who do not take part in the festival are exempt from paying the festival fee.

To participate in the competition you must provide the following documents:

  • The application form
  • A copy of the diplomas of awards in domestic and international competitions (if any).

All APPLICATIONS must be sent on the email: olansa@olansa.sk to Mr. Oldrich Tymur – director of festival.

 

Applications for participation in the festival must be submitted no later than MARCH 25, 2024

 

Only those contestants who have paid an advance payment will be allowed to participate in the competition.

OPTION No. 1

1) Advance in the amount of 130 EURO / 1 person. must be paid within 7 working days from the date of application.

2) Final payment + festival fee will be made on site at the hotel upon check-in on May 5, 2024.

OPTION No. 2

You can immediately pay 100% up to 7 working days from the date of application.

ATTENTION!!!! The organizer of the SNOWY OSKAR festival will confirm your participation in the competition by an Invitation (Voucher), only after receiving of your applications, the lists of participants and documents confirming your advance payment.

 

- The invited teams and individual participants pay all expenses connected with transport to the place of the competition on their own.

- Each collective or group must be accompanied by appropriate number of people who guarantee the safety of participants.

- Participants have the right to advertise their sponsor.

- The competition starts with a meeting of the organizing committee, the director-production group, artistic and administrative heads of delegations.

- All participants MUST present at the opening and closing ceremony of the competition.

- If you do not observe the rules of this Regulation you can be excluded from the competition

- The organizers of the competition reserve the right to change the conditions and the program of the competition.

- Using of props and costumes that can spoil the coverage of the scene (make it slippery, sticky, dirty) is forbidden. All props and details of the costumes left on the stage must be removed immediately after the performance.  

- Participants must send their rooming lists no later than 10 days before the date of accommodation.

- Issues that are not included in this Regulation are solved by the organizing committee.

 

VII. COMPETITIVE REQUIREMENTS

 

- Vocalists (soloists, duets, ensembles) represent 2 (two) works of no more than 3-4 minutes each. Every other performance is allowed for an extra charge.

 

ATTENTION: 

 

- Choreographic collectives represent 2 (two) numbers in one nomination, or one dance in two different nominations, and the group  dance should not exceed 6 minutes, solo - 5 minutes, ensembles of ballroom dance (formations no more than 7 minutes, mixes and concert numbers - 5-6 minutes). Every other performance is for an extra charge.

 

ATTENTION: The first dance is COMPULSORY!!!  Should represent the country from the collet come from: folk, folk stylization, or in the language spoken in this country. For example, if you are from Moldova, then the first dance should be with Moldovan motives.

 

- Theater groups represent a compositionally completed performance of no more than 10 minutes.

- A participant or a team has the right to participate in several nominations, after sending a separate application for each nomination and paying a festival fee in advance.

 

The choreographic collectives present a maximum of 2 numbers.

Both these numbers can be in one nomination or in two different.

For an extra payment you can also perform in other performances:

+ 7 EUR / per one performance / 1 participant, if there is a soloist, duet, trio, etc. no more than 9 people.

+ 70 EUR / per performance in groups/. A group is considered of 10 or more people.

 

Vocalists (soloists or ensembles) present maximum 2 numbers.

Both these numbers can be in one nomination or in two different.

For an extra payment it is also allowed to perform in following numbers at the following rates:

+ 7 EUR / per number / 1 participant, if there is a soloist, duet, trio, etc. no more than 9 people.

+ 70 EUR / per number in groups/. A team is considered of 10 or more people.

 

Soloist instrumentalists present a maximum of 2 works of a total duration up to 8 minutes, and instrumental ensembles no more than 10 minutes.

 

Collectives of the original genre represent a maximum of 2 works in general duration no more than 12 minutes.

 

Theater groups represent a compositionally completed performance of no more than 15 minutes.

For an extra payment it is also allowed to perform in following numbers at the following rates:

+ 7 EUR / per number / 1 participant, if there is a soloist, duet, trio, etc. no more than 9 people.

+ 70 EUR / per number in groups/. A team is considered of 10 or more people.

 

Participants in the nomination of fine arts present for the contest max. 2 works.

The format of painting and graphic works is unlimited.

For each work there is prepared a sign with the required information:  name of the work, technique, and personal data of the author (Name, Date of Birth), the full name of the institution, name and a surname of supervisor.

The participants are not allowed to use numbers and works presented in the previous competitions of "OSCAR IN MAY".

 

Participants in the nomination FASHION & DESIGNER present at the contest maximum 2 works.

 

For teams that demonstrate fashion, org. fee for each person (team member) is 15 EURO in all categories and age groups for 2 numbers (speeches, artworks, literary works).

For each additional performance it is paid 7 euros per person (member of the team) and the team is up to 9 people.

 

For designers and authors of collections

The registration fee is 70 euros for two collections, but not less than 40 euros for one.

All services are provided only through the Organizing Committee of the competition and are coordinated with the participants individually.

 

VIII. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

 - Recording of the phonogram should be on the following media: flash memory card in mp3 or wav  with an ideal sound quality.

- All names must be written only in Latin (English) letters.

- The phonogram should be set at the beginning of the recording. Name of the numbers/ performances on the USB flash drive must match the names of the numbers in the sent Application form.

- Vocalists are not allowed to perform on a phonogram.

- The performance of groups and performers that exceed the time limits will be interrupted.

- During the competition performance it is not allowed to use own lighting equipment.

The day before the competition, all participants, who arrived with their phonograms recordings on the USB flash drive, must pass them to the sound engineer who collects the music in his laptop.

IX. AWARD OF PARTICIPANTS

 

- The results of the competition and awarding are carried out according to the genres, nominations and age categories specified in the Regulation above and provide awarding of Grand Prix winner and Laureates of three prizes:

Grand Prix - the main prize, the absolute winner

Laureate of 1st prize - first place

The winner of 2nd prize - the second place

The winner of 3rd prize - the third place

as well as diplomas confirming the title of laureate of the competition.

- Participants who do not qualify for the prize places receive an Oscar medal and a diploma confirming the title of a Diploma winner.

- If there is a situation when there are no worthy candidates, the Grand Prix is ??not awarded.

- iIt is possible to duplicate of prize places (first two places, second ones, etc.)

- There are also other possible awards such as: "Audience Choice Award", "The most original choreography "," The most beautiful program "," The youngest participant of the festival ", etc.

- The numbers / performances selected by the jury take part in the gala concert.

- The decision of the jury is final and is not changeable.

 - The results of the competition are announced at the final concert. If Contestants do not come to the final meeting, the organizing committee does not guarantee the issuance of diplomas and gifts at some other times.
